Desiring to feel complete before moving on, today is dedicated to blog writing, and so I am back at the Pilgrim House for another overnight stay with other travelers and global camaraderie. A sneak peak at the hostel:
Being a lover of Mediterranean food, I went to Zantoon, a delightful cafe! Ordered a fresh juice: ginger, beet, carrot, celery, apple, and squeeze of lemon - followed by a falafel sandwich and fava bean dish. YUM-YUM!!!!! My happy main meal of the day!
***Blog readers***
If you live in or find yourself visiting Memphis,
make sure you stop by Zantoon!
You'll be very happy that you did!
Had a lovely conversation with Chef Brad Rowe while waiting on my lunch order. We talked about traveling to wide open places offering nature's solitude.
Every person is a walking story and taking the time to meet one another, and not only doing business, has always been a passion of mine.
So, here's a snippet of Brad's story:
Has cooked for Mike Huckabee, Bill Clinton, Jack White, David Porter, Isaac Hayes.....
In addition to being a chief, Brad is a Jazz & Soul musician, and also teaches music. He's been inspired by singers Ella Fitzgerald and James Brown and intrigued by Arabic music and the vibrato in Arabic prayers.
Brad, it was a pleasure chatting with you!
Thanks for sharing your insight about the Ozarks where I'm heading next!
